Our Accomplishments

Celebrating Our Achievements!

Mosquito 2 has been busy this election cycle! We targeted 1,025 Unaffiliated households in the precinct with various postcards (see postcards below) highlighting top issues for our precinct members. The goal: get some of those Unaffiliated voters to vote BLUE! Additionally, we provided voting information to another 550 households in St. James through literature drops and did voter canvassing, targeting left-leaning voters in the precinct. We put a lot of miles on our collective shoes! Thank you to each of you that participated in our fight to save democracy!

Postcard Issue: Focus on Over-Development in Brunswick County

This is the primary issue in residents’ minds. Current Brunswick County Commissioners - comprised of 5 GOP members - have not addressed the issue of clear-cutting, loss of wetlands, aging infrastructure and clean drinking water from the Cape Fear River. They talk a good game, but actions speak louder than words. Solution: Time to vote in new County Commissioners. Elect Jonathan Damico, Bob Fulton and Tom Simmons.

Postcard Campaign

Postcard Issue: Extreme GOP Gerrymandering

North Carolina Democrats proposed The Fair Maps Act, which combats partisan gerrymandering by establishing independent, non-partisan redistricting commissions. The NC GOP leadership refuses to bring the legislation to the floor for a vote. Solution: Vote for Democrats. Let North Carolina join the other 21 states embracing non-partisan redistricting.

Postcard Issue: Women's Healthcare and Reproductive Rights

North Carolina's constitution does not permit citizen-initiated ballot referendums. Unlike many states, we cannot vote directly on the abortion issue. Our personal freedom depends on our extremely gerrymandered state legislature, and on our state court system. Solution: Protect women's rights by voting for Dr. Katherine Randall for the NC State Senate, Jill Brown for the NC House, Allison Riggs for the NC Supreme Court, and Ed Eldred, Carolyn Thompson and Martin Moore for the NC Court of Appeals.

Postcard Issue: Poor Water Quality in Brunswick County

The Cape Fear River watershed supplies drinking water for 350,000 citizens. It remains contaminated from substances dumped in the river for decades. Local GOP officials talk about it but have done little to address it. As recently as eight months ago, researchers discovered 11 new forever chemicals in the Cape Fear, including eight unknown previously by the EPA. Solution: Vote for representatives that will put citizens ahead of corporations. Vote for Dr. Katherine Randall for NC State Senate, Jill Brown for NC House, and Bob Fulton, Tom Simmons and Jonathan Damico for Brunswick County Commissioner.
